101 Reasons to Learn the Piano


1          It is incredibly fun and enjoyable.
2          It increases your coordination.
3          It increases your focus.
4          It raises your self-esteem.
5          It increases your ability to do Math.
6          It makes you a better reader.
7          It helps to keep you physically fit (if you practice with much gusto).
8          It makes you special or unique.
9          You could teach piano lessons some day.
10       Piano is a great solo instrument.  You can play it alone.  You don't need anyone to accompany you like you do on so many other instruments.
11       You can accompany singers, choirs, and instrumentalists.
12       You could join a band.
13       You can play duets with your friends.
14       You can play the piano for your cousin's wedding reception.
15       You can earn money playing the piano.
16       It will make you smarter. Studies have shown that playing the piano raises your IQ.
17       It is a wholesome activity.
18       It keeps you out of trouble.  If you practice the piano, you won't have time to cause trouble.  And you won't want to cause trouble either.

35       It increases your freedom to act.  You are free to play a Mozart Sonata, while others are not free to do so.

48       It teaches you to multi-task.  You have to think of several things at once (such as what notes to play, which fingers to use, how loud to play them, what is the rhythm, when to press down and lift up the pedal, etc).
